Woodridge PTSO Meeting Notes - June 3, 2008 
  • Introduction of new Executive Board Members:

 -Julie Higdon, President

-Mary Hirschkorn, 1st Vice President

-Laura Parker, 2nd Vice President

-Michelle Olson, Treasurer

-Sue Broom, Co-Secretary

-Michelle Hagan, Co- Secretary 

  • Calendar Drawings have been selected for printing in the 2008-2009 school calendar.  Names will be noted in this week’s newsletter.
  • Chair Positions OPEN include BINGO and SPORTS TICKETS.  We need parent volunteers to help us to fill these positions for next year!
  • Sixth Grade Celebration plans are well underway and set for next Thursday, June 12.  Special thanks to parent volunteers who organized and coordinated this event and to Albertson’s, Post Net and Yoke’s for the donations received.
  • Per Mr. Melody-ASB Cookie Dough Fundraiser was a success!  They raised over $5000!  -Roof work being done is to repair structure flaws-Woodridge is schedule to have a NEW PLAYGROUND put in this summer-VOLUNTEER WORKROOM is being relocated to Room 135 to make room for student classrooms.  Thank you for your patience while this change is made
  • Summer Movie Matinee Tickets are still available through June 12!  Place your order now!
  • Memory Books are in and will be distributed on Friday, June 6th to those that have purchased them.  Additional Memory Books will be for sale on June 9th from 3:00pm to 5:00pm in the Library.  There are a limited number of extra books.  They are $12.00 each and are available FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE only!
  • Book Exchange was a HUGE success!  Thanks to Peggy Beck for putting this fun event together!
  • Budget for 2008-2009 school year was presented for review.  Budget was voted on and approved.
  • Site Council is in need of Parent Representatives for Primary and Intermediate grade levels.  If you are interested, please contact Mary Hirschkorn at 979-0700 for further information.

PTSO Meeting Highlights MAY 7, 2008

May 7, 2008 PTSO Meeting Highlights:

Woodridge PTSO now has a popcorn machine. Those at the meeting were able to sample the yummy product.

We have a few open positions still available for next year: Bingo; Sports Tickets; Spelling Bee.

Look on the website and see that we have a new link, “Donate”. This allows anyone to donate to the PTSO at any time.

Site Council will submit improvement ideas for the facilities at Woodridge to the district for review.

The Book Fair is coming next week. This is a buy one / get one free event. Don’t miss out. See the back of this newsletter for more information and a chance for kids to win $10 towards books.

The first Book Exchange will take place on May 29th from 6:00 - 7:30 pm in the multi-purpose room. Bring your books to exchange during the week of May 19 - 23. If you bring in books to exchange, you can pick out ‘new to you’ ones at the evening event.

PTSO Executive Board Member Elections were held this evening.  Results are as follows:

President - Julie Higdon

1st Vice President - Mary Hirschkorn

2nd Vice President - Laura Parker

Treasurer - Michelle Olson

Co-Secretaries - Michelle Hagan & Sue Broom

CONGRATULATIONS!

Mr. Melody will be posting the updated Classroom Teacher assignments for next school year in his newsletter on Friday. 

Mr. Melody announced that NEW PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT has been ordered and will be installed early in the summer.  Equipment selections were reviewed by members of the ASB.

PTSO Meeting Notes
Wednesday, 09 April 2008
Just a few tidbits from the PTSO meeting held on April 8th at 7:00pm! 
  • Spring Portraits are still being scheduled by Jared Pauletto Photography for this week.  Flyers went home on Monday with detailed information.
  • We are in the planning stages for a Book Exchange event to take place in May.
  • Calendar drawings for next school year parent calendars will be sent home shortly for students to design and return to the PTSO.  Drawings selected will be printed directly onto school calendars and distributed to all Woodridge families.
  • A Popcorn Machine has been approved and will be purchased for use during PTSO events and by teachers and staff for students.
  • PTSO Executive Board elections will take place in May.  Please plan to attend to vote for your PTSO Board!
  • The Site Council has been asked to evaluate safety, security, technology, maintenance and minor facility modification needs here at Woodridge.  Input is requested
  • Wizard of Oz DVDs are still available for purchase!!
  • ASB is having a Cookie Dough Fundraiser in May!  Help support our ASB!
  • Pacific Science Center Van is scheduled to arrive on April 30th.  Parent Volunteers are needed to assist with this!  Please contact Ginny Nordhorn or Jean Wilson for info.
